Kathy’s October Message

Dear Chapter Members and Friends:

Our October program is “An Autumn Festival” on Sunday, October 14 at 4 p.m.  Please join us at Hillside Christian Church. Christopher Shaw has prepared a program of inspiring hymn settings and readings.  We look forward to meeting church members as well.

Several of our young organists are pictured with Seth Bott in the September 2018  issue of “The American Organist”. We appreciated the Master Class and Recital presented by Seth Bott last June.

The Chapter website has been undergoing a facelift.  Watch for our updates at www.agowichita.org.

During the installation of officers at the September meeting, we were asked to endeavor to elevate the status of the organ, its music and musicians.  Please add the list of programs for this year to your calendars as we realize this charge.

The recital by Damin Spritzer at the national convention was a stunning example of this endeavor.  Grand Avenue United Methodist Temple was filled with extremely quiet organists.  The Temple has no air conditioning and it was one of the hottest days of the summer. The EM Skinner Organ (1911) continues to be lovingly maintained.   Dr. Spritzer’s performance and choices of literature held the audience spellbound.  I hope to hear the recording.

Thank you for staying in touch with the Wichita Chapter of the AGO.
