November Update

I hope that you were all able to get a little rest today with the extra hour! We will need it for the next couple of months! At school and at church, Halloween reminds me that Advent and Christmas will soon be upon us. I was looking at my calendar at the end of last week and grew concerned seeing that I only had four weeks of rehearsal before my school choirs present their winter concerts….but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. We need a moment to give thanks and take a quick glance at November!

I’m very thankful for all of the performers and people that helped make the Organ Spooktacular a great success! It’s not often we have a recital of members where only two of the performers are not in their teens or twenties. The concert was a great opportunity for our young members and a great outreach to the community. I’m always pleased when I don’t have a stack of programs leftover to take home.  This time we actually ran out of programs! A special thanks to Gloria Dei and Annette Lindal for being such great hosts, and to Pat Walcher for putting together a wonderful reception. I think there will be more holiday-themed events planned for the future.

November gives us an opportunity to share some of our Favorite Voluntaries with our colleagues. The Wichita and Hutchinson Chapters will be joining in a joint program on Thursday, November 19th, 7:00 PM at Bethel College Mennonite Church, North Newton, KS. Read further in the newsletter for more important information about this event.

On the day/eve of All Saints/Souls day, we do want to take the time to think about our members and friends we have lost over the past year. May we always be making music in their honor and carrying on the work of all the saints as we offer our gifts of music each and every day.
