“Christmas time is here. Happiness and Cheer.” It might be hard to think of the happiness and cheer at this moment as we approach one of the busiest seasons of the year as a musician, organist, choir director… well just about anyone really! We’ve barely digested our Thanksgiving meal, observed the first advent candle of hope, Advent II is upon us. But really that’s just the beginning of the list of things we have to do this December. I thought I would list as many of the events as I could that involve our members:
Dec. 5th/6th, Wichita Symphony Orchestra
Messiah – Anna Jeter, harpsichord Dec. 6th, 3 PM, Bethel College Ad Building Chapel Dec. 6th, 7 PM, Tabor College. Messiah Dec. 12th/13th, Wichita Chamber Chorale. Dec. 12/13th, Heart of America Men’s Chorus. Carole Pracht, accompanist
Dec. 13th, 7 PM, Reno County Choral Society. Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. Christopher Shaw, director Dec. 22nd, 7:30 PM, First United Methodist
I know there are MANY more events that our members are participating in, so my apologies if I didn’t catch it. Amongst your own busy schedules, I encourage you to consider attending one or more of these events.
It seems early to wish you all a Merry Christmas, but I better now while I have the chance. I know it’s a busy time, but as you look at the advent wreath each week think about the meaning of each candle as it is lit – hope, love, joy, and peace. May you be able to experience each of those this season. – Christopher Shaw, dean
