Wichita Calvary United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time organist/piano accompanist for three Sunday worship services (8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 a.m.) and aWednesday evening Adult Choir Rehearsal (7:00-8:30 p.m., Sept.-mid June). Position available May, 2016. Salary, $18K.
Additional duties will include special rehearsals and services throughout the year, specifically at Christmas (Annual Evening Christmas Program and 3 services on Christmas Eve) and Easter (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday). The staff organist reports to the Lead Pastor, meets with the Music Coordinator, and will also have the “right of first refusal” to play for church-sponsored weddings and funerals. The ideal candidate will be a flexible team member with the ability to play and accompany in both traditional and contemporary styles and with an understanding of the role of an organist/pianist in worship. The organist will provide liturgically relevant music for preludes and postludes, both regular and seasonal, as well as accompany anthems, offertories, hymns and responses during the service.
Calvary’s instruments include a 25 rank Kilgen pipe organ and a Yamaha C3 grand piano.

Organist/Pianist Job Description (Brief)
The Church Organist/pianist reports to the Choir Director and the Senior Minister
Play the organ during prelude/introit before the 10:20 worship service Sunday mornings
Accompany the choir on piano during rehearsal on Wednesday evenings
Accompany the choir or other performers during 10:20 worship service on Sunday mornings
Accompany music for music performances as arranged
Attend and participate in staff meetings one Sunday after lunch per month
Arrive 10 minutes prior to all rehearsals and performances with music prepared
Be helpful in creating an enjoyable experience for all involved
Avoid any negative comments or body language that might discourage the musical experience.
