Congratulations to the Wichita AGO Chapter on the 20th Anniversary of their POPs for KIDs program.  I also join with all others in congratulating Irene Shaw for her vision in establishing this worthy program.  If the organ and the great music composed for it are to survive, it is essential that young people be introduced to the organ and made aware of the magic it has.  No other instrument can be as thrilling or reach the hearts of people so strongly….  I hope this program will continue…for many years to come.

Congratulations to POPs for KIDs on their 20th anniversary. I remember well the excitement and joy I saw on the faces of those eager children in 1997, when it was my pleasure to play for them. Thanks to Irene Shaw and all her visionary helpers for all you’ve done to share the beauty and the wonder of pipe organ music with so many generations of children. Long may POPs for KIDs thrive. All best wishes.

I have very happy memories of October 2002 when I came to Wichita to play…at WSU and introduced the organ to…POPs for KIDs. I clearly recall the extraordinary enthusiasm and curiosity of all those present, many of whom had never experienced the thrill of a…pipe organ before. I remember the excitement of their ‘hands-on’ experience on the Marcussen, as well as their perspicacious questions at the end….  Introducing the organ…to children remains one of the most worthwhile and stimulating aspects of my life as a concert organist. All best wishes!
