Pipe Organ Encounter Trivia.
There will be four Pipe Organ Encounters in the US this summer:
We currently have 3 student registrations and the promise of several more on the way.
Our chapter scholarship auditions will take place on March 8 at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.
Scholarships are also available through the AGO National Headquarters. Some churches are willing to provide financial support for young members of their congregations who wish to attend the POE.
Faculty, chaperones, and staff volunteer their time for these events.
Students, age 13-18, who attend a POE get daily private instruction, practice time, workshops and classes as well as recitals by faculty and the opportunity to perform at area venues.
In addition, the Wichita POE will provide the opportunity to see and hear the Wurlitzer theater organ at Century II, a tour of organs in the surrounding area, a hymn festival, and a final student recital on the Marcussen organ in Wiedemann Hall at WSU. Many of these events will be open to the public.
All chapter members will be invited to help out before and during the POE. We will need chaperones, ushers, transportation hosts, food providers and servers, and friendly faces. In future issues of our chapter newsletter, more specific requests will be posted.
Please plan on helping us host a memorable event.
